Austenitic Stainless Steel Description
Austenitic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with austenite
structure at normal temperature.When the steel contains about 18%
Cr, 8%~10% Ni, and about 0.1% C, it has a stable austenite
structure.Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and has high
toughness and plasticity, but has low strength,but can be
strengthened by cold working.Austenitic stainless steel has good
machinability through adding elements such as S, Ca, Se, and Te.
The most common austenitic stainless steel are Grades 304 and
316.Grade 304 stainless steel is the most versatile stainless steel
material, known for its strength and corrosion resistance widely
used in general environments.316 stainless steel contains
molybdenum elements, which are more superior in acid and alkali
resistance, high temperature resistance and pitting resistance, and
is suitable for marine and chemical environments.
